Walt Disney world in 5 days!!

Walt Disney world still has the magic!

I just recently returned from a week at disney ... there were 13 of us.

The best thing we did was buy the memory maker pass. One photo pass was all we needed to take unlimited pictures of everyone in our party by professional photographers. The pictures were immediately viewable on our Disney experience app and we could share them on social media while we were there. We have a month to download them!

I actually made some of the pins I found on pinterest

 We made jellyfish....
First we read the gooey jellyfish.. lots of real pictures.
We painted bowls blue and then attached strips of
tissue paper underneath. Even though Jellyfish don't have eyes,
my students wanted eyes on their jellyfish. My students created some of the best sentences and legible handwriting after creating their jellyfish!!

 Pumpkin stamp art...

First we cut the pumpkins open and scooped out the "guts" very fun and gooey!! Then we talked about Fall and listed the Fall colors. I squirted a little Tempra paint (red, green, orange) onto a few paper plates and placed a fork into each pumpkin to be used as a handle. Then the pumpkin stamping began...it doesn't matter which way the stamps go...
When you are finished stamping you can add some brown stems using small sponges.

The next week my students made some wonderful spider webs!!
We laced the paper plate after we had paper punched it around the edges.( I pre-punched the holes in the middle with a ballpoint pen). I taped the string to the back of the plate when the web was finished! Next they painted the plate using do a dot markers. Everyone got to choose where to put their spider (pre-cut from construction paper). Finally we wrote a few sentences and drew a picture about our project.

How to help students with an inefficient pencil grasp

Make your own pencil grasp "bracelet". Have your student grasp the bead in their ring and pinkie fingers.  I tell my students this helps give these fingers a job (this keeps these fingers flexed and quiet). This encourages the separation of the two sides of the hand ( the power and the skill sides).

Pinterest

I have found a new time trap.. Pinterest..

It lets you make visual bookmarks and arrange similar topics on each "board". The pictures link back to the original website if you want more information. You can even plan a baby shower or birthday together using one pinterest board!!!

I went around the house and snapped pictures of some of my favorite quotes. Here are a few...

I took these pictures with my Iphone and then I sent the pictures to my e-mail and then I posted them to my blog... then I pinned them to pinterest.

Have fun pinning!

fun at Liza mozs

I went with my good friend Lydia to Liza Moz last week. It is a pottery studio where you can pick out your own pre-fired pottery item ( I found out that this is called bisque) your own colors and then start designing and painting. Who knew it would take so much creative energy to pick out 4 colors and decide what to put on our newly acquired plate and mug. Lydia picked out a word that described her and the helpful studio artist painted it on her plate. The staff was so helpful and friendly!!! I hand lettered ,"Your not fully dressed without a little dog hair!!", (so true at my house) onto my mug. The staff glazes it and then you come back and pick it up later. We had so much fun painting and creating our masterpieces. Then we headed to the food court for a little nourishment.
